February 13
8am - 1pm |
The Waipa Foundation is hosting an “`Ohana Day” on Saturday February 13th from 8am to 1pm. Bring the family and join us at Waipa in learning about local food systems, Hawaiian culture, practices and traditions, and the connection to land and resources. “Ma ka hana ka `ike” means “through working one learns”. Experience fun, hands-on activities in the lo'i (taro patch), loko i`a (fishpond), and mala `ai (garden) during the morning. Join us for lunch and talk story after the work is done. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing for working outdoors (a change of clothing is recommended), and bring water bottle, hat and tabis for working in the lo`i or loko i`a. Lunch will be provided from produce grown on-site. There is no charge, but space is limited. For more information or reservations, please contact Kalen Kelekoma at 639-6905 or kalen@waipafoundation.org kalen@waipafoundation.org. |
